The GetReal Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to the adoption and implementation of Real World Evidence in health care decision-making in Europe, is pleased to announce its first appointees to the Executive Board.
The Institute was established in May 2021, following the completion of two Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI)-funded projects, with an Interim Board comprising Professor Diederick E. Grobbee as Interim Chair and Dr Pieter Stolk as Interim Board Member from University Medical Centre Utrecht, supported by a transition team from the IMI GetReal Initiative.
As of January 2022, the GetReal Institute has inducted twenty-four multi-stakeholder organisations constituting its founding members. Following a call for nominations and an election, the following individuals have been appointed to the Executive Board:

Irene Nunes – VP, Head of Regulatory Affairs, Flatiron Health
Thomas Paulsson – Sr. Director & European Scientific Lead for Value Evidence & Outcomes, GSK
Mira G.P. Zuidgeest – Associate Professor of Clinical Trial Innovation & RWE, University Medical Center Utrecht
“First, I’d like to express my gratitude to the Interim Board and transition team for their excellent work and support in establishing the GetReal Institute. It is my pleasure to warmly welcome our first Executive Board members on behalf of the entire GetReal membership.
Ensuring our Board is composed of individuals from patient advocacy, health technology assessment, business and academia, aligns fully with our diverse membership composition and GetReal’s vision to be an independent, neutral and transparent multi-stakeholder collaboration.
Furthermore, each of these individuals brings a high level of knowledge and experience to the table that will certainly help us navigate challenges and lead us on our journey to help maximise the transformational potential of real world evidence in healthcare decision-making in Europe,” said Shahid Hanif, Managing Director, GetReal Institute.
